Fish on the AGA

Fish on the AGA

Forgive me, it's a long time since I last did a little post like this and I've been meaning to log this for ages but yadda yadda new responsibilities...no time...

This picture is from when I was last in Norfolk a couple of weeks ago. You'll have gathered by now that I have fallen for AGA cooking in a big way and this is just one example of how easy it all is. (Did I mention my nascent theory about how AGAs give the upper middle classes the time to manage things estates and worldwide domination etc because they're not worrying about how to organise wholesome and hearty suppers? No? Well let me work on that a bit more and I'll come back to you.)

This was an idea for a quick supper that was easy to tidy up before we made our way back to Beckers that evening. As you know, we have bought a new, all-electric, AGA. The boiling hotplate takes about 15 minutes to heat up.

I defrosted some fish fillets - salmon and cod here - I'd had in our little freezer there and popped them onto one of our Bacoglide discs on the boiling plate. Keep and eye, turn as necessary. 15 mins and they were done. No pan, no oil. Perfectly cooked. VoilĂ !

Add some fruit and seeds and there it is, brimming with oaty proteiny goodness. Warm, nourishing and filling, albeit
