Stocking stitch sleeves

A ready-roll sleeve

Stocking stitch sleeves

I want to share with you a little thing that pleased me this week. As you know I have a huge amount of time for the wonderful jumpers of NavyGrey. My latest investment piece from them - I am sure they will all outlive me - is this charcoal grey rollneck. It's not a style that usually suits my short thick neck but it was cold last week so needs must. Also, charcoal grey is one of my favourite colours.

I noticed while preparing to do the washing up that evening that the sleeves on this jumper are made with stocking stitch all the way down instead of the more usual ribbing on the cuffs. This means that they naturally roll up, which is quite pleasing when you have to push up the sleeves to wash up because it means that the cuffs don't become stretched, distorted and subsequently floppy, as happens with ribbing. So you don't have to take off the jumper in cold conditions to save it.

Well done, knitwear designers!
